CHADWICK BOSEMAN REVIVES THE PAST AGAIN IN MARSHALL

- Chris Knight, National Post

Usually i t’s the horror movies that aren’t screened for critics. But on this Friday the 13th, the time-loop/slasher flick Happy Death Day was shown in advance, while the legal biopic Marshall arrives sight unseen, at least in Canada. The movie stars Chadwick Boseman, who’s making something of a career out of playing real-life African-American figures. Marshall tells the story of Thurgood Marshall, who served on the U. S. Supreme Court from 1967 to 1991 as that body’s first black justice. The cast also includes Josh Gad, Dan Stevens, James Cromwell and Sterling K. Brown as a black man accused of the rape and murder of a white society woman ( Kate Hudson); Marshall’s defence of him in 1941 forms the backbone of the movie. Marshall opens across Canada Oct. 13.
