Dark days ahead on Netflix
Before the holiday season officially sets in and you’re left with a craving to watch terrible Christmas movies, settle in with a few more adventurous options.
Both Netflix (with the new series Dark) and CraveTV ( with the short- lived Ten Days in the Valley) take turns at the so- overdoneit’s- become- cliché television premise: a child goes missing, and in their hunt to find him/ her, families uncover some terrible secrets about their town instead.
Or, perhaps more wisely, opt for Reese Witherspoon, who chooses to get a little lost in Wild ( Netflix), finding herself on a far superior version of the Eat Pray Love journey, co- starring the always flawless Laura Dern.

Voyeur on Netflix
This Netflix Original Documentary examines the lurid tale of a real- life motel owner who secretly spied on his guests for decades through fake ventilation grills he had built into each room — like a modern- day Norman Bates.
