Re: Advertisement for California Wildfire Grand Tasting Fundraiser, Dec. 2.
I am puzzled that the Canadian Red Cross is holding a fundraising event in support of wildfire victims in California but not for wildfire victims in British Columbia.
Through 2017 British Columbia experienced its worst forest- fire destruction in 60 years.
According to a news report in l ate September: “More than $ 510 million has been spent fighting fires that, at the height of the disaster, chased almost 50,000 people from their communities.
Fires are blamed for destroying 509 structures, including 229 homes, and causing financial l oss to ranchers, farmers, forestry and tourism operations.”
I urge the Canadian Red Cross to host a wine- tasting event featuring British Columbian (and Ontario) wines to raise funds for the victims of disasters in Canada.
