Kim, Kanye’s surrogate gives birth to a girl
‘ The greatest gift one could give’
The true third coming is upon us: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s surrogate gave birth Monday to their third child.
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” Kardashian announced on her app Tuesday. “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
The baby was born at 12:47 a.m. PT and weighed a healthy 7 lbs., 6 oz. No word yet on her groundbreaking name.
Kardashian confirmed the pregnancy in September. The couple chose a surrogacy after Kardashian’s struggles to conceive since giving birth to their second child, Saint, in 2015.
During her pre v i ous pregnancies, Kardashian suffered from placenta accreta, a condition that happens “when the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall,” making it difficult to detach during birth. It meant a third pregnancy would have been lifethreatening, a struggle that was well- documented on her family’s reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
In an episode this season, Kardashian discussed how much she and West wanted to grow their family: “Kanye and I have always talked about having more kids, but after what I went through in Paris, the urgency is even greater. I’d just love nothing more than to expand my family and just know that I have this world at home that is safe.
“And if for some reason I left this earth sooner than I really wanted to, then my kids would have a support system at home so that I know that they would be okay if I wasn’t there.”
Kardashian’s sister Khloe is also pregnant and reportedly due soon, while younger sister Kylie Jenner has long been rumoured to be pregnant and due soon as well, though she has yet to confirm the news.
Kardashian and West are already parents to son Saint, 3, and daughter North, 5.
