Cowardice of Conservatives
Re: A dilemma for Charlie Brown Conservatives, Andrew Coyne; Feb. 8
Andrew Coyne’s column on the cowardice of conservative leadership in Canada is devastatingly on the mark. It brings to mind G.K. Chesterton’s comment that “Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried.”
As Coyne points out, Conservatives lack any will or conviction that, if an unpopular policy is the right one, they should try to persuade the electorate it is so rather than abandon it. Steve Weatherbe, Victoria
