FIGURE SKATING Men — Patrick Chan, Toronto, sixth after the short program with a score of 90.01; Keegan Messing, Sherwood Park, Alta., 10th with 85.11. Both qualified for the free skate on Saturday. SKELETON Men’s Final — Kevin Boyer, Sherwood Park, Alta., 17th ( 3: 25.40) after his third and fourth runs; Dave Greszczysz­yn, Brampton, Ont., 21st ( 2: 34.61); and Barrett Martineau, Calgary, 24th ( 2: 35.40). Both were eliminated after their third runs. Women’s Individual — Elisabeth Vathje, Calgary, won the second run and set a track record of 52.01 seconds. She is eighth ( 1: 44.46) heading into runs three and four Saturday. Jane Channell, North Vancouver, B.C., 11th ( 1: 44.70); Mirela Rahneva, Ottawa, 13th ( 1: 44.81). SKI JUMPING Men’s Individual — Large Hill — Mackenzie Boyd- Clowes, Calgary, 25th after qualificat­ion round ( 102.4). Advances to Saturday’s final. SNOWBOARDI­NG Women’s Snowboard Cross Final — Tess Critchlow, Kelowna, B.C., third in the small final and ninth overall. Carle Brenneman, Comox, B.C., fourth in quarter- final and did not advance. She finished 14th overall; Zoe Bergermann, Erin, Ont., DNF in quarter- final heat and ranked 23rd overall. SPEED SKATING Long Track, Women’s 5,000 — Ivanie Blondin, Ottawa, fifth ( 6: 59.38); Isabelle Weidemann, Ottawa, sixth ( 6: 59.88).
