Men’s Team Sprint Freestyle — Canada ( Len Valjas, Toronto, and Alex Harvey, Saint- Ferreolles- Neiges, Que.) eighth ( 16.31.86). Women’s Team Sprint Free

style — Canada ( Emily Nishikawa, Whitehorse, and Dahria Beatty, Whitehorse) seventh in semifinal ( 17: 01.54) and did not advance to the final.

CURLING Women — Canada lost 6- 5 to Britain, eliminatin­g them from playoff contention.

Men — Canada downed Denmark 8-3. Will face the United States in Thursday’s semifinal.

FIGURE SKATING

Women — Kaetlyn Osmond of Marystown, N. L., third in short program ( 78.87); Gabrielle Daleman, Newmarket, Ont., seventh ( 68.90) — both advanced to the free skate; Larkyn Austman, Coquitlam, B.C., 25th ( 51.42), failed to qualify.

FREESTYLE SKIING

Men’s ski cross — Brady Leman, Calgary, won gold; Kevin Drury, Toronto, DNF medal race, fourth overall; David Duncan of London, Ont., fourth in Small Final (eighth overall); Chris Del Bosco, Montreal, DNF in 1/ 8 final ( 31st overall).

HOCKEY Men — Canada beat Finland 1-0 in quarter-final. Play Germany in Friday semifinal.

SNOWBOARDI­NG

Men’s Big Air — Maxence Parrot, Bromont, Que., top qualifier in his section with 92.50 points; Mark McMorris, Regina, third in his group ( 95.75); Sebastien Toutant, L’Assomption, Que., fifth ( 91.00) — all advance; Tyler Nicholson, North Bay, Ont., sixth ( 89.25), did not advance.
