Heads should roll

Re: Rights of anti- Easter Bunny foster parents violated: ruling. Adrian Humphreys, March 8

Who will watch the watchers? The biblical- sounding l i ne is actually from the poet Juvenal, but it applies in this case. Kudos to Ontario Superior Court Justice Andrew Goodman for his Solomonic ruling, but heads should roll at the Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton.

Foster and adoptive parents are among any society’s truest heroes. Parenting is tough enough, and to take on the added challenges that come with children arriving from often- difficult circumstances i s beyond admirable. We still need protective services in case of genuine abuse, but to remove children because foster parents wouldn’t lie in support of a fairy- tale belief ?

I can’t help but note the irony of parents being abusively and absurdly punished for upholding an ostensibly Judeo- Christian value, common to all reli- gions and moral codes, of telling the truth!

So, to the point, who gets fired? The Hamilton CAS has put children at risk, period. Who has the mandate to remove “watchers” who abuse their mandate?
