Actor Miller arrested for alleged fake bomb threat

T.J. Miller, the loud-mouthed actor formerly of HBO’s Silicon Valley, found himself in some hot water again on Monday when he was arrested for falsely claiming back in March that there was a bomb on an Amtrak he was riding from Washington, D.C. to Connecticut.

The actor reportedly called 911, and claimed a female passenger on board the train had a bomb in her bag. Police investigated two different Amtrak trains, evacuating them entirely, but no explosives were found. According to a release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, via Vulture, an officer spoke with Miller and “detected slurring in Miller’s voice and asked if he had consumed alcohol that day. Miller replied that he had consumed ‘one glass of red wine.’ Asked if he suffered from mental illness, Miller replied ‘no, absolutely not. This is the first time I’ve ever made a call like this before. I am worried for everyone on that train. Someone has to check that lady out.’ ”

An attendant later informed police that Miller had been removed from the train earlier for drunkenness as he “had been involved in hostile exchanges with a woman who was sitting in a different row from him.”

Miller appeared in court-last week and was released on a $100,000 bond. He faces a maximum of five years in prison if convicted for “intentionally conveying” false information to law enforcement.

This isn’t the first time Miller has found himself in cuffs. He was last arrested in 2016 after slapping an Uber driver. Last year, allegations surfaced of him sexually assaulting and violently attacking a woman in college resurfaced. Miller denied the allegations, and accused the victim of jumping on the #MeToo bandwagon.
