U.K. CHAIN CAUGHT SERVING UNDERSIZED PINTS OF BEER

An investigation by Trading Standards in Birmingham found that an unnamed national restaurant chain was

using glasses that were 8.1 mL (roughly 1 ¾ teaspoons) shy of an actual pint (568 mL). In the U.K., draft beer and cider must exclusively be sold “in measures of a third, half, or two-thirds of a pint, or multiples of half a pint,” according to The Independent. Names were not disclosed “because the case did not result in a prosecution,” the BBC reports.
