More serenity, Serena

-

Re: Sure, Serena was angry — she had every right to be; Scott Stinson, Sept. 10

A disgraceful display of pique and poor sportsmanship by Serena Williams marred the final match of the 2018 Women’s U.S. Open Tennis.

Countering her on-court claims of innocence, her coach later admitted to using repeated, highly visible and unquestionably illegal hand signals. She, in turn, made his — and according to USTA rules — their cheating into a gender bias issue. (For those who declaim against the constant volley of female victimization, red herring will be available at next year’s concession booths.)

Smashing her racket and abusing the referee are necessary and sufficient causes for the subsequent penalties and fine to be levied. Too much testosterone from this petulant, multi-millionairess feminist icon, methinks.
