ARIANA GRANDE ADDRESSES EX-PARTNER MAC MILLER

- Sadaf Ahsan, National Post

On Friday, rapper Mac Miller died of an alleged drug overdose at 26, setting off a chorus of mourning from fellow artists, but also a horde of hate on ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande. The pair had dated for two years, breaking up earlier this year, with Grande saying on her Instagram he remained her “best friend” and she wanted to “know him forever.” Months later, she began dating comedian Pete Davidson, to whom she is now engaged. Weeks after they split, Miller was in a car accident and charged with a DUI. Fans began to blast Grande on Twitter and Instagram, accusing her of ending the relationship and pushing Miller to drink. Grande responded in a tweet, saying, “I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be.” Nevertheless, when Grande didn’t tweet or Instagram a comment on Miller’s death right away, his militant fans descended, blaming her for his drug addiction and death. On Saturday, the singer addressed Miller’s death by posting a simple black-and-white photo of him on Instagram, with no caption.
