WHAT TO WATCH

- Sadaf ahSan

As the temperature takes a dip, you’ve got plenty of cuddle-friendly binge sessions ahead of you with the return of two of Netflix’s biggest series: Narcos (which resets in Mexico) and House of Cards, which is officially Kevin Spacey-free and featuring Robin Wright as the leading lady in its final season.

And if you’re really in the mood to lean into the chill, prep for the holidays with the Christmas classic Love, Actually, just be sure you have your tissues at the ready — even if this happens to be your 27 th watch. Although, if you’d rather keep it light, you can never go wrong with Billy Bob Thornton lighting one up in Bad Santa, an underrated holiday gem featuring Lauren Graham as a bizzaro Lorelai Gilmore.

But if something new is what you’d like to tap into, Amazon Prime Canada has Homecoming, starring the always reliable Julia Roberts in her first role for television, as a former therapist who helped soldiers transition to civilian life. Years after she decides to leave her line of work, the U.S. Department of Defense comes calling with questions, and it quickly becomes clear either they’re hiding something or she is. The conspiracy thriller, which also stars Bobby Cannavale, Sissy Spacek and Dermot Mulroney, has already received rave reviews, and it has Sam Esmail as creator and producer, the man behind the great Mr. Robot.
