Sold for: $3.1 million

Time on the market: 54 days

The homeowners have enjoyed this Lorne Park residence since 2008, but now the successful company owner wants to upsize to a larger home, says listing agent Sam McDadi.

They renovated their Birchview Drive stone bungalow, which offers 7,500 sq. ft. of living space.

“There is always demand for luxury bungalows,” he says. “Many people like (or need) not having stairs and having everything on a main level. There aren’t many large and luxury bungalows. Most are smaller and much older so this house works very well for the high-end buyer” in search of one-level living.

There are hardwood floors throughout and luxurious bathrooms. The high-end gourmet kitchen has top-ofthe-line appliances, granite counters, white cabinetry, an island breakfast bar and big windows beside the eating area.

Features include intricate moulded ceilings and details, such as columns and arches in the living room and panelling in the den.

A gas fireplace, a walk-in closet and a six-piece en-suite bathroom with a separate shower and a soaker tub are highlights of the master suite.

There is also a panelled main-floor den with a gas fireplace and lots of big windows. The family room, which also has a fireplace, offers a walkout to a gracious stone balcony.

The lower level is beautifully finished and includes a second kitchen, three bedrooms and a sauna.

“There’s an impressive attention to detail,” from ornate plaster mouldings to high ceilings, McDadi says.

The buyers, who are from the GTA, “were drawn by the size and finishes of this home. It’s a massive sprawling bungalow with gorgeous finishes,” McDadi says. “It’s very difficult to find a bungalow of this size.”

The 169x138-ft. property has stone pillars and wrought iron gates, an interlocking stone driveway and walkways that meander through the professionally maintained grounds and a backyard patio.

“There is also always demand for Lorne Park,” he says. “It’s a 25-minute commute by car or train to downtown Toronto. It’s a high-end neighbourhood with large mature trees and large lot sizes.”

The property has easy access to the Queen Elizabeth Way, shopping and other amenities.
