Toronto residents can order up great wines

-

Cooped- up Torontonians can now get sommelier- curated wines delivered, contact- free, in a new initiative from the Liberty Entertainment Group.

The ABC’S of Wine service will deliver a three- bottle package with tasting notes and an original recipe “paired specifically for each wine designed for home use” by the company’s chefs for $99 plus GST to homes within the GTA.

Service begins next week. The Ontario government began allowing wines and beers with pick-up and takeout on Thursday.

The sommeliers — from Blueblood Steakhouse, Don Alfonso 1890, Xango, and the company’s three Cibo restaurants, which are offering take-out and delivery — have chosen Barolo “Nirvasco” 2013; Zardini Amarone della Valpolicella 2015; and Chianti Classico Riserva 2016 “Le Sergioveto” for the first package.

“We are doing this to engage people who are doing the right thing by isolating and to provide them with some great wine delivered to their door at cost. We make absolutely nothing on this other than wanting to give to those that stay home,” said

Nick Di Donato, president and CEO of Liberty Entertainment Group.

Sign up for the service through www. foodball. ca, a fundraiser in support of the Sinai Health Foundation.

The Foodball is scheduled to be held this fall, although Di Donato says that might change.

“We are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23, but obviously this is tentative based on the situation. Our chefs come from all over the world so may be difficult,” he said.
