Poetry readings at council could stop in Fredericton

Fredericton city council may end the custom of opening public meetings with a poem, after its poet laureate read Those Who Need to Hear This Won’t Listen, about abortion. Some councillors said the poem was timely given the expected closure of one of the province’s few abortion providers, but one said the custom had become a form of activism.
