Medvedev rallies past Zverev for Paris title

-

Russia’s Daniil Medvedev overcame a tough start to beat Germany’s Alexander Zverev 5-7, 6- 4, 6-1 to win the Rolex Paris Masters title on Sunday. Zverev, the No. 4 seed, had won five of the six previous matches against the third- seeded Medvedev and looked to be ready to add to that when he earned the first break of the match in the 12th game to take the first set. Medvedev and Zverev traded games again until 4- 4 in the second set, when the Russian picked up his first service break. Medvedev then won eight of the final nine games to put the match away. “After the first set, I could give up because Sascha was serving well and playing well. I just stayed there and at one moment I raised my level higher and higher and started to put pressure on him and it worked,” Medvedev said.
