There was a lot of interest in this Lorne Park home even before it was listed on MLS, says listing agent Loretta Phinney. “We had just over 47 showings booked and it was on the open market for only two days before it sold. We received eight offers.” It sold for 106 per cent of the asking price.

The 5,500-plus-squarefoot home appealed to families who want to live in a good neighbourhood on an established street, walking distance to shops and the lake. It’s also within walking distance of one of the best schools in Ontario, she says.

The home has a great layout with an updated kitchen that has stainless steel appliances, a centre island and a breakfast area with a walkout to a patio.

There’s a gas fireplace in the living room and a walkout to a balcony from the main-floor family room. Particularly valued right now, the home offers an office, conveniently located on the main floor.

Phinney says the 52x105-foot lot, on a quiet court with equal or better larger homes, has a backyard oasis, something else of particular interest during these trying times.

Two walkouts connect the home with outdoor space. The backyard features a gated salt-water pool and patio, which is perfect for families with kids, she says. “It is connected to a large side yard with a walkout from the side entrance. There’s a pergola and tons of privacy thanks to tall hedges. It’s an amazing setting for entertaining and relaxing.”

The area is surrounded by large trees and walking trails, but “accessible to everything for everyday life,” says Phinney.

The main bedroom suite has a walkout to a balcony, walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom. Lower-level features include a recreation room with a gas fireplace and a fifth bedroom. The home also has a gym.

With the square footage and amenities, it’s a perfect retreat for now and in the future. “It’s a home that can be enjoyed for years. It has large principle rooms, plus a spacious basement great for putting in a theatre, a pool table and exercise room.”
