Porsche releasing limited-run model
As the majority stakeholder in the German motorsport company, Porsche is celebrating 25 years of Manthey-racing partnerships with a limited run of track-only cars called the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25.
The model is based on the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport and powered by the same twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat-six engine, making 690 horsepower and passing it to the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK transmission.
On its exterior, the new Clubsport wears a bright green and grey finish, which is a nod to the historical colour combo that Manthey calls “Grello.” It also distinguishes itself with a different front fascia, a vented carbon-fibre hood, a duct above the Porsche logo on the front, reworked supports for the rear spoiler, new vents beneath the rear window, a new diffuser and exhaust, and unique headlights.
“It amalgamates the respective strengths of each partner into one racing car, and at the same time bridges the gap between the 991 and 992 model generations of the 911,” said Grant Larson from Style Porsche. “Manthey contributed the basic concept and the technical ideas, with Porsche providing the final design. We used the characteristic colour scheme of Manthey’s Grello to specifically highlight certain functional areas of the vehicle.”
The German automaker plans to build 30 of the US$620,000 25s, with six of them bound for the U.S.
Porsche Cars Canada has not said if any will make it further north.
