Subaru announces pricing for 2022 BRZ
Subaru has announced Canadian pricing for the all-new 2022 BRZ, the second generation of the 2+2 sports coupe. It will start at $29,495 in entry-level trim with a sixspeed manual transmission, and $31,895 with a six-speed automatic.
The Sport-tech trim will start at $32,495 with a stick shift, and $34,895 with an automatic. The BRZ is Subaru’s only model without allwheel drive; instead, the engine exclusively powers the rear wheels.
The next-generation BRZ includes an all-new 2.4-litre four-cylinder, horizontally opposed and naturally aspirated engine, making 228 horsepower and 184 poundfeet of torque.
A revamped chassis, which Subaru says is more rigid, has a lower centre of gravity and a longer wheelbase. To reduce weight, the car has an aluminum roof and front fenders, and Subaru claims an improved front-to-rear weight distribution.
The 2022 BRZ will have a new electric power-steering system, quicker 13.5:1 steering ratio, smaller-diameter steering wheel, and five settings for the vehicle stability control with the automatic, including the ability to turn it off completely.
There’s also a new interior, with customizable seven-inch digital instrument cluster, contoured sport bucket seats, eightinch centre screen, standard push-button start, and Apple Carplay and Android Auto. For the first time, the BRZ will also include Eyesight, Subaru’s camera-based suite of driver-assist technologies.
