NIAGARA-AREA MAN WANTED FOR FIRSTDEGREE MURDER

Police in the Niagara region were hunting Sunday for a 43-year-old man wanted for murder in the death of his stepson. Justin Kuijer’s seven-year-old stepson, Nathan Dumas, was critically injured at a residence in St. Catharines Friday. He died Saturday. Kuijer, 43, was already wanted in connection with a stabbing Friday. Police allege Kuijer entered a Royal Bank branch, stabbed a female employee, and fled in a van. Investigators said the incident was not a robbery, and Kuijer and the woman knew each other professionally. The woman was in stable condition. Police said there was a pink floral decal on the back window of the dark grey van Kuijer was driving that referenced missing person Ashley Simpson and “Missing Women of Canada.” The suspect van’s licence is BYTE392.
