DAVE CHAPPELLE REVEALS RADIO CITY RESIDENCY

-

Dave Chappelle is setting up shop at Radio City Music Hall this summer. On Monday, the comedian announced a 10-show residency at the Manhattan venue, featuring an array of special guests from the worlds of comedy and music. The run begins on Aug. 1 when Chappelle will be joined by the Roots, the Philadelphia hip-hop group and Tonight Show house band, who will also perform with the comedian for the next three nights. (The combo will be familiar to longtime fans of Chappelle, whose 2005 documentary, Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, also featured the group; Erykah Badu, another of the film’s performers, is Chappelle’s guest at Radio City on Aug. 9.) The shows come at an especially lively time for Chappelle, who largely avoided the spotlight for years after leaving behind his sketch comedy program, Chappelle’s Show, in 2005.
