The best day for pizza

Pizza is a delicious delicacy that should be consumed in some shape or form every single day. This is not wishful thinking, it’s a matter of fact. And while I try to adhere to that golden rule – and have succeeded numerous weeks over the years – not everyone can lead a perfect ’za lifestyle.

Some people will eat pizza multiple times a week, while others will have it only once during a seven-day stretch (gasp!). This unfortunate predicament raises a crucial question: if you can eat pizza only one day a week, which day is best?

Not all days are equal for consuming a magnificent pizza pie. Take Friday, for example. I’m sure that’s the first day that came to mind for many people, and to those I’d say, you are completely wrong. “But Friday is the end of the week, when you don’t feel like cooking,” they’ll argue.

Pizza is not something to be left until the end of the week. It’s also not something you get just because it’s “easy” to order. Pizza deserves your respect and attention, so reserve your laziness for Friday burgers.

Saturdays aren’t much better. Sure, pizza is convenient for a gathering of friends, but why should pizza just be another friend you see on weekends? Why can’t pizza be there for you when you need it most?

Instead, turn your calendars to the middle of the week to find the optimal day for pizza eating. Wednesday is not a bad option. It’s hump day, after all, so when you’re at your lowest, you call in backup to get you through the rest of the week. You may even have leftover pizza for Thursday so you can make it until Friday burgers.

But as appealing as Wednesday might seem, the best day of the week to eat pizza is, in fact, Thursday. You’ve now been through hump day and are in the final stretch to the weekend finish line. What better way to help you get there than the love of your life, pizza? Then, next thing you know it’s Friday, when you can have leftover pizza for breakfast to ring in the final work day of the week.

Admittedly, I’m biased. Thursday also happens to be the day my favourite local pizza establishment has its weekly special. And if the pizza joint says it’s the day for pizza then it must be good, right?
