CraveTV set to screen Big Little Lies this week
Gear up for some extensive drama and waterworks this Friday (brought to you by multiple powerhouse actresses) when CraveTV begins screening Big Little Lies.
The HBO miniseries stars Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz as women brought together in a murder that riles up their luxe California neighbourhood. Created by David E. Kelley, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and produced by Witherspoon and Kidman, it picked up eight Emmys this year, for Kidman, Alexander Skarsgard, Dern and Vallée. If there were ever a must-watch, it’s this. (Frankly, if this is your first time watching, you’re already late to the party.)
Chase that with the second season of The Crown on Netflix, starring Golden Globe winner Claire Foy, who all but disappears into her role as the young Queen Elizabeth II. This season is set to shed a little more light on her husband Philip’s history, played by Matt Smith, and will circle the JFK years, with Kennedy being played by the great Michael C. Hall (Dexter). Jodi Balfour also stars as Jackie Kennedy, and Matthew Goode (Downton Abbey) portrays Lord Snowdon/ Antony Armstrong-Jones, the photographer who romanced Elizabeth’s sister Margaret.
Here’s all that’s new to streaming services this week:

Paris Can Wait on Netflix
What would the world of great rom-coms be without Diane Lane? Paris Can Wait — which is essentially Under the Tuscan Sun with France in place of Italy (but who’s complaining?) — follows Lane as she plays the wife of a movie producer (Alec Baldwin) on a road trip from Cannes to Paris, accompanied only by her husband’s romantic and sufficiently suave co-worker (Arnaud Viard). They indulge aplenty, mostly with all the French cuisine they can stomach, to make a sweet little dessert of a movie.
