Creepy fare despite holidays on streaming services this week
We may be settling into the holiday season, but that doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in creepier fare this week. Kick things off with Netflix and the underrated horror film It Comes at Night, starring the equally underrated Joel Edgerton as a father who is keeping his family safe in a secluded house in the woods as the world faces a deadly outbreak — until it comes knocking at their door, with another family looking for refuge. Consider it a vastly superior version of mother!
Follow that up with Netflix’s Friday debut, the sixepisode faux(ish) documentary Wormwood, directed by the legendary Errol Morris and starring Peter Sarsgaard as a Cold War military scientist who mysteriously died. As a true crime/re-enactment, Morris is taking a risk with Wormwood, but by teaming up with Sarsgaard in a dramatic role, he’s hedging his bet.

YOUR OFF-THE-BEAT RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK
Sensitive Skin on CraveTV It isn’t everyday that Canadian television manages to fall under the prestige banner, but this short-lived HBO Canada series offers something special, with a familiar blend of nostalgia and melancholy as it follows Don McKeller (who also directed the first season) and Kim Cattrall as a married couple re-evaluating what they want out of the rest of their lives together.
All 12 episodes of the series will hit CraveTV on Friday, if you’re in the mood to reminisce while seeing Toronto actually play Toronto.
