Reviving morality

Conrad Black has again hit the nail on the head. Patrick Brown has been convicted by the media, his own party, political leaders of all stripes, and society, without benefit of trial.

We are losing our democracy to the politicall­y correct. And yet I do not see women marching in his defence, nor does his predicamen­t seem to matter to those supporting Black Lives Matter, and the Muslim community just remains silent on everything but their own perceived victimhood. Worse than all that, university students don’t seem to care, and it is their future rights that are going down the drain.

Hopefully Black’s preferred candidate, Caroline Mulroney, will win and be able to revive the importance of a sense of justice, ethics and morality in Ontarians. payments flow through from Ottawa courtesy of Western Canada’s wealth. So, contrary to Mr. Ivison, Justin Trudeau isn’t showing any leadership on this matter by holding a town-hall meeting in B.C. where he couldn’t even stand down a few hecklers. I can assure you that if Trudeau tried to use constituti­onal powers to force Quebec on any pipeline project, he would make his father’s infamous National Energy Program look like a mere irritant. and successful industries — the oil and gas industry. Finally, high taxes on modestly higher income earners are a huge drag on our economy.

A bold leader would vow to tackle these, open up our health care system to more private sector involvemen­t and adopt a more business and consumer friendly philosophy in general. Only then would we see any real change. Instead, all we see are more boutique tax cuts or credits and other lame rhetoric and gimmicks aimed at the middle class. It’s just rearrangin­g the deck chairs on the Titanic.
