Beyhive buzzes into action

- BITE National Post

Haddish had been holding on to the story for weeks, as Weaver noted, “Tiffany Haddish is too happy to keep a tale this juicy bottled up inside her any longer.” Indeed, as Haddish herself concluded, “There’s people out here biting Beyoncé!” But who, exactly? The singer’s rep informed GQ that she couldn’t comment because “I have no knowledge.”

But way back in February, Haddish had already started a fuss when she revealed on an episode of the docu-series Uncensored that when she was speaking to Jay-Z at the concert, “There was another actress that was there who was also talking to Jay-Z. And she touched JayZ’s chest, and Beyoncé came walking up like, ‘Biiiitch!’ ”

“She didn’t say that,” Haddish continued. “But her demeanour, her body from the way she walked up on her was like, ‘Get your hands off my man’s chest.’ So then, she started talking to the other actress and some other stuff happened, but I’m not gonna say nothin’ yet. But it’s gonna be in these streets.”

While there is unfortunately no list of the party attendees floating around, according to a February report penned by armchair detectives at The Cut, we do know some of the celebs invited included Rihanna, James Franco and Queen Latifah. And the actresses they were certain had been invited included Sara Foster (David Foster’s daughter) and Sanaa Lathan (Love & Basketball, and most recently Boss).

Those two names were enough to unleash a war and send the Beyhive stinging, as Beyoncé’s militant fans spent Monday spamming Foster and Lathan’s social media accounts with bee emojis, demanding to know why they might have bitten their queen, stamping them with slurs, criticizing their bodies, families, children and careers. Basically, all bets were off because one does not bite Beyoncé and get away with it.

Foster responded on Instagram, writing, “Flattering that anyone thinks I could get this close to Beyoncé.” Lathan responded on her Twitter, writing, “Y’all are funny. Under no circumstances did I bite Beyoncé and if I did it would’ve been a love bite.”

Social media maven Chrissy Teigen entered the fray with a tweet of her own: “I cannot leave this planet without knowing who bit Beyoncé in the face. I can only think of one person who would do this. but I cannot say. but she….is the worst.”

Moments later, she added, “Update it is NOT the person I think is the worst. IM DONE . ... I AM NEVER TELLING I’m scared I’ve said too much KNOWLEDGE IS A CURSE!”

Some have suspected the culprit may be self-professed rowdy partier Jennifer Lawrence, but she was in New York City during the week of the after-party. Those suspecting Scarlett Johansson are also mistaken. While Johansson was definitely at a party with Beyoncé in 2017, it was a different one. And Haddish confirmed that it was not Taraji P. Henson.

Naturally, Beyoncé has yet to respond and call off the battalion. And the truth is we may never know who was a little too hungry that night.
