RAPE CHARGES HIT NOBEL PANEL

COPENHAGEN The man at the centre of a sex-abuse scandal tarnishing the academy that awards the Nobel Prize in Literature was Tuesday charged with two counts of rape in 2011. Swedish prosecutor Christina Voigt said the evidence “is robust.”

Jean-claude Arnault, a well-known figure who ran a cultural centre, is married a member of the Swedish Academy, Katarina Frostenson. Arnault was banned in December by the academy from attending a Nobel banquet when a Swedish newspaper, published the allegation­s.
