TIFFANY BITES BACK

- Sadaf ahsan

In her hilarious new Hollywood Reporter cover story, comedian Tiffany Haddish discusses many things, including how she propositioned Leonardo Dicaprio (by saying she wanted a night with Gilbert Grape – among other things) and knew Roseanne Barr was a racist all along.

But her most notable reveal is just who bit Beyoncé at a private party earlier this year.

Haddish caused a social media uproar back in March when she told GQ about an after-party for JAY-Z in December where she found herself chatting with Beyoncé. “There was this actress there,” Haddish said to GQ, “that’s just, like, doing the mostest. … She bit Beyoncé in the face. … So Beyoncé stormed away, went up to JAY-Z, and was like, ‘Jay! Come here! This b—tch—’ and snatched him. They went to the back of the room. I was like, ‘What just happened?’ And Beyoncé’s friend walked up and was like, ‘Can you believe this b—tch just bit Beyoncé?’”

Haddish recalled almost getting into a “standoff ” with the shady character, but Beyoncé requested she hold off. At the end of the party, Haddish said, “Beyoncé’s at the bar, so I said to Beyoncé, ‘Did she really bite you?’ She was like, ‘Yeah.’ I was like, ‘She gonna get her ass beat tonight.’ She was like, ‘Tiffany, no. Don’t do that. That b—tch is on drugs. She not even drunk. The b—tch is on drugs. She not like that all the time. Just chill.’”

For weeks after the story was published, Beyoncé’s manic fans went into overdrive trying to deduce just who the hungry assailant was. They began leaving bee emojis and sending vulgar messages to a list of women who many believed to be the likely suspects, including Sara Foster and actress Sanaa Lathan.

Foster denied the accusation, as did Lathan, who said in a tweet, “Y’all are funny. Under no circumstances did I bite Beyoncé and if I did it would’ve been a love bite.”

No longer able to hold on to the truth, Haddish revealed all to THR, exposing Lathan for her alleged lie: “I’m super good friends with (Lathan’s) stepmom and her dad, and they were mad at me. They were like, ‘Why would you do this to the family? You know, black actresses, you guys have to stick together, it’s so hard for you guys to get work as it is, why would you try to ruin her career?’ But I didn’t try to ruin her career. I never said her name! I was just trying to say how Beyoncé kept me from goin’ to jail that night. I coulda just shut my whole career down.”

In fact, Haddish revealed, despite the unspoken Hollywood coda that one must never reveal dirt, she and her rising career haven’t suffered.

“The other day, someone was saying, like, ‘Oh my God, you should keep your mouth shut ’cause now you’re never gonna be invited to parties,’ but I got invited to way more parties after that,” Haddish said.
