Stand up to China

-

Re: What is the Trudeau government afraid of? Terry Glavin, May 7

There comes a time in life when one must make a stand against bullies. The despotic leaders of the communist party in China will stop at nothing to achieve world dominance. Just ask the one million Uyghurs in China who are experiencing mass incarceration and genocide.

Meanwhile the Western world stands idly by. Recent revelations that Chinese leaders covered up the severity of the coronavirus pandemic goes unchallenged by our prime minister. The fact that he OK’d sending tonnes of protective gear to help in the outbreak in China is simply beyond belief. Perhaps he did not want to incur the wrath of China and be sneeringly told that like Australia, which dared to question China, that Canada was “gum on the bottom of China’s shoe.” Also, angering China would not help his feverish attempt to gain a seat on the United Nations’ Security Council, where the world’s problems are talked about with little action being taken.

The world is clearly involved in a massive game of Risk with China and China and they are winning. You can well imagine Chinese money will soon be flooding in to countries whose economies have been devastated by the pandemic. It is time for the world to stand up to this despicable bully. It is also time for every Canadian to contact his or her MP and tell them to send a clear message to our prime minister that internet giant Huawei should receive a resounding “no.”
