ARTISTS HONOURED FOR REMARKABLE CONTRIBUTIONS
The Canada Council for the Arts has named the winners of the 2021 Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts. This year, the awards honour eight artists for exceptional careers and remarkable contribution to the visual and media arts and fine crafts. A peer committee selected the winners, who will each receive $25,000, a special-edition bronze medallion and a video portrait. “It is with great enthusiasm that I would like to acknowledge the inspiring work and exceptional contribution of these talented artists,” said council director and CEO Simon Brault, shown. The winners are Lou Lynn, Bryce Kanbara, Luc Courchesne, Cheryl L'Hirondelle, Germaine Arnaktauyok, Lori Blondeau, Dempsey Bob and Bonnie Devine.
