Celebrating National Volunteer Week April 18-24

Over the past year, while COVID-19 has created many challenges, Canada has come together to support the needs of our communities. Volunteers have played an integral role in keeping our communities safely engaged during this global pandemic.

Throughout our history in Canada, St. John Ambulance volunteers have been there to offer assistance, expertise, care and compassion. Our tradition of coming to the aid of Canadian communities reaches back well over a century.

SJA VOLUNTEERS RESPOND TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC — MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITIES

Our volunteers are proud to play whatever role they can in responding to COVID-19. Our volunteers have kept Canadians safe by:

• Helping at COVID-19 isolation sites,

• Supporting screening clinics,

• Providing personal protective equipment and first aid to individuals experiencing homelessness,

• Delivering first aid and mental health training programs to community members.

Volunteers have also been creative in engaging communities by participating in therapy dog virtual visits, as well as supporting food delivery services for those who were isolated. When we see a need in our communities, St. John Ambulance volunteers get involved and bring peace of mind to their fellow Canadians.

SJA Canada would like to thank our more than 15,000 volunteers, along with all volunteers in our country, for their dedication and donation of time to keeping people safe and well every day.
