Ladies Who Lunch, a social gathering for Ottawa women to mingle and network, is shaking things up with a new venue, some tunes and special guests.

The Dec. 9 luncheon, the last of the year, will take place in the Panorama Room at the National Arts Centre and will feature a three-course meal by chef John Morris, music by guest DJs Wendy Daniels and Sandy Sharkey, and works on display by artist Sarah Lake.

Catherine Landry launched the first Ladies Who Lunch two years ago and has seen it grow from a modest group of 30-odd women to more than 200. The 10 luncheons have been held at the Arc Hotel, Westin Hotel and in Almonte with a long list of eclectic guest speakers, including photographer Sandy Sharkey, author Kathie Donovan, Jennifer Reynolds of Canadian Living and fashion shows and vendors.

The upcoming event is a coming home of sorts for the longtime fundraiser and owner of Cherry Pie, a marketing and events company.

“My uncle Robert Landry was chair of the board of the National Arts Centre from 1988 to 1994. His brother helped to build the NAC. It’s like coming home for me,” says Landry, who came up with the idea for a business networking event after witnessing similar affairs in London, New York City and Miami.

A holiday trunk show will feature Ottawa Fashion Week fave Stacey Bafi-Yeboa of Kania Couture and guest speakers include Mary Taggart of Ottawa At Home magazine and radio personality Josie Geuer.

The luncheon, noon to 3 p.m., costs $70. Tickets can be purchased at the NAC Box Office or through ticketmaster.ca.

“We have special surprises, reception cocktails, shopping opportunities and offer the chance for women to catch up with business associates and create new friendships.”
