Campanale Homes is getting smart with its executive townhomes in Barrhaven. The builder is showing off the latest in wireless control with its two new models at Longfields Station.

Homeowners are given that control by choosing options that let them operate several systems in their home from their mobile phone.

“You have the ability to control your lighting, you can control all of your sound, there’s security systems that you can connect as well, and you can control everything basically through your iPhone,” says sales manager Richard Bureau.

The features, and the homes, are expected to appeal to first-timers and those choosing the area, thanks to its proximity to the Transitway. Longfields Station is being built next to the Longfields Drive station and is geared to the commuter crowd. The project, which will eventually see some 900 homes on the 25-acre site, will include condo flats, terrace homes and condo apartments with elevators. A pedestrian plaza is also planned to connect the development to the Transitway.

Almost all of the townhomes released in the first phase last fall have been sold, with the models comprising two of the three remaining. That’s prompted Campanale to release another 15 units, with more expected down the road.

The smallest floor plan is The Metro, starting at $331,260 for 1,766 square feet, three bedrooms, twoand-a-half baths and a finished basement. The largest, The Express, is 2,023 square feet, also has three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths and a finished basement and starts at $370,260.

The models, The Porter and The Junction, are also three bedrooms, with 1,895 and 1,721 square feet of living space, respectively.

Both feature bright open living spaces with high ceilings, custom cabinetry and deep soaker tubs. Standard features include stainlesssteel appliances with front-loading washer and dryer, detailed coffered ceilings and central air conditioning.

The community is surrounded by several parks and nearby golf courses, including Stonebridge; with shopping and restaurants nearby, as well as the Walter Baker Sports Centre.

The terrace homes and condo flats, currently under construction, start under $255,000. And Campanale will start construction next year on what Bureau calls the centrepiece of the project, a 36-unit condo called The Station.

It’s a four-storey building with main-floor commercial, underground parking and elevator, starting under $245,000.

“Basically, it is highrise living in a low-rise building,” says Bureau.

The Station is expected to be complete in 2015. Occupancy for the new release of townhomes, meanwhile, is expected to be next spring.
