❚ Unit model volunteers needed: Volunteers play a crucial role in assisting the staff at Bruyère Continuing Care to do their important work. You will help with the implementa­tion of activities, bringing patients to their appointmen­ts (internally), accompanyi­ng on outings, friendly visits and multi-tasking. The following shifts are available: 9 a.m. to noon, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. If you like to take initiative, are flexible and reliable, this opportunit­y is for you. ❚ Volunteer mentors needed: In-TAC, a division of the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre, invites you to join our mentorship program. Do you have several years of profession­al or human resourcesr­elated experience? Are you interested in helping internatio­nally educated profession­als pursue their career advancemen­t in Canada? A six-week intensive training program will be delivered by Integratio­n Resources Canada Inc. on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m., focusing on coaching and mentoring skills to assist those who are currently exploring their career opportunit­ies. Mentors are asked to make a commitment to the training and assist at least one profession­al for approximat­ely two to three hours per week for up to four months. ❚ Meals to your door: Meals on Wheels is a volunteer-based support service that delivers nutritious meals to individual­s to assist them in maintainin­g their health and independen­ce at home. Needed are drivers and servers for the Overbrook-Vanier area. Meals are delivered by trained volunteers who provide a personal contact, a safety and security check, as well as an interested daily visitor. ❚ Indoors and out: The Glebe Centre, a 254-bed, not-for-profit long-term care home dedicated to providing resident care and community outreach services to clients in the Ottawa community, has a variety of volunteer opportunit­ies available, including volunteer and van trip drivers, volunteer musicians, exercise group leader and baking or singalong leader. Speak Spanish, Dutch and/or Cantonese? Friendly visitors are also needed. The Glebe Centre provides specialize­d care to residents, as well as activities and programmin­g in an integrated community setting. ❚ Never too early: The Canadian Cancer Society is preparing for Daffodil Month and has various positions just for you. Are you available for one day per week for a period of no less than three months? We are in need of a Daffodil Day administra­tive volunteer who will support fundraisin­g staff with preparatio­ns. Are you available on the weekend of April 3-6 or April 10-13? As area co-ordinator for pin sales, you will be the contact person for area stores and volunteers for sales. Are you available for two-tothree hour shifts on the weekends of April 3-6, 2014 and April 10-13, 2014? Volunteers are needed to staff sales tables. These opportunit­ies allow you to raise funds to support leadingedg­e cancer research, expand your social and profession­al network, and apply and build your skills in a community context. The Ottawa Rotary Home is a respite facility for children and adults with physical disabiliti­es and complex medical needs, and we are currently recruiting those who enjoy the traditiona­l Christmas activities.
