OTHER SHOWS WITH FILM WRAP-UPS

HBO’s Looking isn’t the only short-lived series to wrap up its story in the form of a movie or special. Here are some other examples:

Hello Ladies: This HBO comedy, starring co-creator Stephen Merchant as a bumbling love-seeker in Los Angeles, was cancelled in January 2014 after just one season. The following November, fans got closure with the feature-length Hello Ladies: The Movie.

Serenity: Joss Whedon’s futuristic space western was cancelled after 11 of the 14 produced episodes aired on Fox in 2002 and 2003. It was a hit on DVD though, and in 2005 the story was continued in the film Serenity.

Veronica Mars: The dramedy series, starring Kristen Bell as a private investigator, was famously axed in 2007 after three seasons. In 2014, after a successful Kickstarter campaign, fans got a film that was set nine years later.
