-

The Canadian musical Come From Away will land on Broadway in February 2017, reports Playbill. The production, about the 38 planes that were redirected to Gander, Nfld., after the Sept. 11 attacks, will play pre-Broadway engagements at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., from Sept. 2 to Oct. 9, followed by a run at Toronto’s Mirvish Theatre from Nov. 15 to Jan. 8, 2017. Come From Away had its world premiere in summer 2015 at the La Jolla Playhouse in California. It also ran at the Seattle Repertory Theatre last fall, where it broke box-office records. The rock musical features a script, music and lyrics by the Canadian husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein. Tony Award nominee Christopher Ashley directs.
