De Grasse edges Powell in 100m
Andre De Grasse ran to victory in his last race before the Rio Olympics. The 21-year-old from Markham, Ont., beat former world record-holder Asafa Powell to win the 100 metres in the American Track League meet at Rice University on Saturday. De Grasse crossed in 10.02 seconds; Jamaica’s Powell finished in 10.08. Dexter Lee of Jamaica was third, in 10.14. De Grasse is the reigning world bronze medallist in the event and recently won his second consecutive Canadian 100 title.
