Arnprior water advisory lifted for 60%

- AIDAN COX

A drinking water advisory previously issued for Arnprior has been lifted for the majority of the town.

The advisory issued Wednesday was lifted for approximately 60 per cent of the town’s water users, according to a statement released by the Town of Arnprior on Thursday.

The statement was released along with a map showing areas in grey where the advisory was still in effect. According to the map, the advisory had been lifted for most parts of the town that lie north of William Street and east of Daniel Street. Visit arnprior.ca to view the map.

The town urges the remaining 40 per cent of people residing in the “south west quadrant of town” to not use the water for drinking, food preparation, cooking, making ice, washing dishes, bushing teeth, preparing infant formula, hand washing and bathing.

The statement goes on to say that tap water should only be used for flushing toilets and washing clothes.

Anyone having difficulty interpreting the map is asked to contact town hall at 613-623-4231.

Residents who have come in contact with the water and are feeling unwell are asked to speak to a health-care provider or to call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-7970000.

For more information contact the Renfrew County and District Health Unit at 1-800-267-1097, ext. 555.
