Trump doesn’t understand politics

Re: Trump hints at violence in speech, Aug. 10

In suggesting that Hillary Clinton wants to abolish the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Donald Trump is either throwing a red herring into the current election debate or simply does not understand the process for amending the U.S. Constitution, which requires a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress and ratification by threequarters of the states.

The president plays no formal role in such a process.
