Beach-goer rescued after burying himself

-

A French tourist had to be dragged to safety by a 20-man human chain after burying himself up to his neck in sand at a beach in the southwest of the country. Dozens of beach-goers came to the 21-year-old Parisian’s rescue after he buried himself in a hole two metres wide and three metres deep. When he tried to get free, the loose sand around him became more and more tightly packed, restricting his breathing. A total of 20 bystanders and nine lifeguards at the beach in Moliets banded together to pull the man to safety, the France Bleu channel reported. The team of rescuers formed a human chain, with many lying flat on their stomachs, while other used shovels to complete the operation. Local lifeguards warned visitors to fill in any old holes on the beach before heading home.
