Water the top seller at airport stores

-

Air passengers wanting to stay hydrated on long-haul flights are driving record sales of bottled water at terminal departure lounges, CNN reports. Despite high prices, bottled water is the No. 1 item bought at Hudson travel shops in the United States, figures show. Hudson Group is North America’s largest travel retailer, with more than 950 stores in terminals across the continent, the network said. Drinks, especially bottled and “smart” water, took eight of the top 10 spots for items sold at its outlets last year. Cola drinks took sixth, seventh and ninth spots. The only non-beverage purchases on the list were M&M Peanuts and the Wall Street Journal newspaper. Favourite magazines included The Economist, In Touch, Vanity Fair and US Weekly. Book readers opted for Tina Fey’s Bossypants, Chris Kyle’s American Sniper and Malcolm Gladwell’s David and Goliath.
