Live Work Play supports adults with intellectual disabilities to live, work, and play as valued citizens. They are looking for volunteers to join in on Friday Night Fun social outings: movies, dinners, festivals and other fun activities. Must commit to minimum one Friday night per month. Are you friendly, personable, mature and responsible, committed and open, and willing to learn about intellectual disabilities? Gym companion volunteers are also needed. If you like to work out, or are new to it and need a gym buddy, this is perfect for you! Work out in a gym or at home, from Kanata to Orléans and everywhere in between. A police records check and commitment for six months to one year is required.

Do you want to be part of helping children and youth build skills and transform their lives? Christie Lake Kids needs volunteers to help with after-school gym programs (soccer, basketball, rockers), arts (cooking, art, music), leadership-in-training and tutoring programs. We run programs from east and west locations in Ottawa, and are looking for caring and enthusiastic volunteers to make an impact. They require visiting volunteers to provide companionship at home, in the community or on outings. Duties include visiting the townhome and engaging in friendly conversation, daily tasks and leisure activities, and attending monthly volunteer meetings. Volunteers receive orientation and training about mental illness and effective communication; they gain good relationship skills and develop meaningful relationships with residents, staff and board members.
