What would Laurier say about U.S. today?

Re: A vision for a prosperous Canada, from a century ago, Aug. 15

Well, here we are some 100 years after the epoch Brian Lee Crowley describes. This best sums up my feeling: plus ça change, plus c’est pareil, although Americans seem less overtly hopeful to see their flag planted all over Canada. However, I expect some might reasonably argue it’s nevertheless now firmly planted and flying all over the country in spirit, and that in turn factors in no small way our domestic and foreign policies.

What would Wilfrid Laurier say about that? I wonder. André Branchaud, Rockland
