Canadian has shot at Daytona

D.J. Kennington’s Daytona 500 dream will come down to one final run on Thursday. Kennington was 0.445 seconds short in his first attempt to qualify for the sport’s most prestigious race in a Sunday time trial. He placed fourth among the field’s six non-charter drivers, his competition for the last of 40 spots in the main starting grid. Kennington, a 39-year-old native of St. Thomas, Ont., gets a final opportunity Thursday when he vies for one of two remaining spots via the Can-Am Duel.
