Avatar sequel dates announced

Avatar 2 will hit theatres on Dec. 18, 2020, reports Variety, with dates for the subsequent three sequels set as well. Avatar 3 will open Dec. 17, 2021, with a three-year break before Avatar 4, set for release on Dec. 20, 2024. Avatar 5 is slated for Dec. 19, 2025. The news came Saturday morning on the movie’s official Facebook page, accompanied by a picture of director James Cameron and the film’s crew. The original Avatar was released in 2009 and made $2.8 billion US.
