Windows are the weakest link in any dwelling. Even EnergyStar-rated windows allow over 40 per cent heat loss in the winter and over 70 per cent heat gain in the summer to occur. However, the window blind industry has had very little innovation or evolution for many decades.
Krumpers Solar Blinds’ approach is based on the consumer, whose issues are: heat in the summer, cold in the winter, a desire for a clear view and year-round UV protection. In winter, the blinds are turned to the winter position and once again provide a clear view, while acting as a passive solar collector – thus generating heat, while at the same time allowing for an R10 insulating value and UV protection.
