Still time to vote yes on electoral reform
Please recall the oft-repeated, solemn statement by our now prime minister and his Liberal candidates: “2015 will be the last federal election conducted under the first-past-the-post voting system.”
Unlike Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s recent unilateral decision-making, sound bites and the overwhelming media silence, most Canadians do want a proportional representation voting system. It’s really not complicated: Everyone’s vote counts!
While it’s too late for the prime minister, Liberal MPs can try to salvage their credibility by voting yes on the May 31 motion to concur with the recommendations of the Special Committee on Electoral Reform, and support proportional representation. (Contrary to the Liberal party narrative, the special committee did an excellent job.) Laura Brawn, Ottawa
