Atheists are altruistic for different reasons

While the article claims that the actively religious are more altruistic than the non-religious, I beg to differ.

When the actively religious do good deeds, it can be akin to paying an insurance policy, since some believe that if you do good deeds on Earth, you will be ensured a place in heaven.

However, when an atheist does good deeds, then that is truly altruism, since they are not expecting any future reward for them and are really acting out of the goodness of their hearts. Judith Recongco, Ottawa
