Redblacks, Ticats in vital match

- TIM BAINES

No way the one-win Ottawa Redblacks can afford to take the nowin Tiger-Cats lightly.

With 10 regular-season games remaining, the Redblacks are already fighting for their playoff lives and they know it.

“I hate to put that pressure on us, but that’s what the situation is, we have to win,” defensive back/linebacker

We don’t want them to get their first win on us. But it doesn’t matter who we’re playing right now, we need to win.

Nick Taylor said. “We don’t want them to get their first win on us. But it doesn’t matter who we’re playing right now, we need to win.”

The Ticats have taken a couple of beatings, but have played tough in most of their games.

“I know their record doesn’t say it, but they’re a good team,” Redblacks head coach Rick Campbell said. “No team in this league is a bad team. (The Ticats), they played Edmonton twice … you could say they should have beat them in Hamilton (a 31-28 loss) and they took them to the wire in Edmonton (33-28 for the Eskimos). The key for us is we really have to focus on ourselves, that we’re in the mindframe to go on the road and get a win no matter who it is.

“You can make an easy argument that anybody could beat anybody on any given day and it wouldn’t be crazy that it happened. You’d better be ready to go and you’d better be in the right frame of mind.”
